When was the last time each MLB team had a player win Rookie of the Year?

With several rookies off to a feverish start in 2026, here’s a look at the last time each team had a player win the coveted award.

The 2026 MLB season is nearly a week old already, with all 30 teams on to their second series of the season as fans across the league hope for a solid start to the year for their clubs.

While putting some wins on the board early on in the season is universally important, fans are also zeroing in on individual players who are expected to produce, whether that be longtime veterans like Mike Trout and Freddie Freeman or a hyped-up rookie, like Chase DeLauter and Munetaka Murakami.

The aforementioned rookies are among those who have had an excellent start to the 2026 season, with Owen Caissie of the Miami Marlins also opening the season on a tear in the National League.

It seems as if Rookie of the Year races widely vary in both how entertaining and talented they are from year-to-year – with the award’s value sometimes being directly tied to the rookie class it was associated with in a given season.

The 2024 NL Rookie of the Year race serves as a perfect example of a riveting, highly-contested race, with Paul Skenes simply blowing away incredible campaigns from both Jackson Merrill and Jackson Chuorio. The NL race in 2007 also captivated leaguewide attention with Ryan Braun edging out Troy Tulowitzki for that season’s award.

Some years, the strength of the rookie class merits a less interesting Rookie of the Year debate, seen in the 2013 AL race as Wil Myers won the award with a 2.2 WAR season and .831 OPS. While a solid campaign to begin one’s career, it was not the rookie phenom campaign that others have delivered, with Myers simply outperforming fellow rookies Jose Iglesias and Chris Archer to win the award.

All 30 MLB teams have had a player take home the honor at least once, with 10 of the league’s teams having a player win the award since the start of the decade. Only three teams have not had a player win a Rookie of the Year since the turn of the century.
