Though the series is a few years old, 2025 saw the introduction of several new City Connect jerseys while other clubs maintained previous designs.
While much of the focus around the baseball world is rightfully centered on the ongoing MLB postseason, I wanted to take a bit of a lighter approach involving clubs across the league for the third tier list on The Rubber Match.
In 2025, 28 of the league’s 30 clubs sported City Connect jerseys, with only the New York Yankees and Athletics going without one for the season. Though admittedly a series that isn’t one of my favorites, there have been several great City Connect uniforms, including a few that debuted this season.
Although I prefer the existing home, away and alternate jerseys for most clubs, City Connect jerseys can still prove to be a step up to a team’s uniform lineup. For these jerseys, I am generally looking for a few things.
- Some sort of clear tribute or reference to something in either the team’s or city’s history.
- Creativity and innovation – while a jersey doesn’t have to be unique to be great, these jerseys should display some distinct characteristics.
- Something beyond minimalist money grabs to fill out a club’s jersey lineup.
Additionally, while I reference teams’ existing color schemes when breaking down my opinion of their City Connect jersey, my opinion on each team’s regular uniform set are not reflected in this tier list.
Below is a video of my tier list, with a photo of the completed tier list found below the video player:
